Dr. Tyler Schuurmans was born and raised in the Midwest, and earned his D.D.S. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Dentistry in 2009. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Offutt Air Force Base, NE. Dr. Schuurmans then spent four years practicing dentistry on the beautiful island of Okinawa, Japan while stationed at Kadena Air Force Base. During his time overseas, Dr. Schuurmans completed an advanced general dentistry clinical preceptorship program and served as the Executive Officer for the 18th Medical Group, one of the largest outpatient medical facilities in the USAF Medical Service. Following 6 years of general dentistry practice, Dr. Schuurmans received his advanced specialty training certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. Having passed his written national board exam, he is board-eligible and on target to achieve Diplomate status from the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Schuurmans is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association and Colorado Springs Dental Society. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, scuba diving, camping, hiking, biking, snowboarding, cheering on his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and traveling with his wife and young son. He and his family are thrilled to explore all the outdoor opportunities that abound in southern Colorado.
